Isaac Newton was born in Whoolsthorpe, England on Dec. 25, 1642. He grew up under the care of his uncle. His father passed away before he was born, and his mother remarried and left Newton. He was enrolled into a grammar school and was expected to grow up and manage his mother’s property, but Newton had his own interest. After he left the grammar school and enrolled in the Trinity College at Cambridge University in 1661 and received a bachelor’s degree of arts three years later. One year later, in 1666, Newton made three of his greatest discoveries. Newton developed on theory in the field of optics. He believed that weight light was made up of the colors of other colors of light that separate when passed through a crystal prism. After passing through the prism the different colors of light would create a spectrum, a band of color. He also created a theory in mathematics, a binomial theorem. The theorem was to calculate the slope of curves and the area underneath them. This helped to lead the way for calculus. Out of all his discoveries, Newton is most known for his discovery of gravity. He believed that there was an attraction between objects in space and it is what holds objects in orbit and why objects stay and fall to earths ground. Isaac Newton was appointed professor of mathematics in 1669 at Trinity College, and was elected into the Royal Society in 1672. He then published a book about his discoveries about light. About this time a rivalry began between him and Robert Hooke. Then in the 1980's Hooke accused Newton of stealing his work that contributed to the writing of the Principia. The Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica contained Newton's three laws of motion and the theory of gravity backed up by mathematical proofs. Newton was made famous by the Principia and was knighted in 1705. In his older age, Newton dedicated his life to study the bible. He tried to find the relationship between history and prophecy. On March 20, 1721 Sir Isaac Newton died and was buried in Westminster Abby.
